Volker Haase, M.D., is a professor of Medicine, Cancer Biology, Molecular Physiology and Biophysics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Haase studies the molecular responses to hypoxia and has helped determine the mechanism by which the kidney hormone erythropoietin increases new red blood cell production. His research is supported by the Krick-Brooks Chair in Nephrology and by grants from the National Institutes of Health.
