Alvin C. Powers, M.D., is the Joe C. Davis Chair in Biologic Science and professor of medicine, molecular physiology and biophysics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. His is also chief of the Vanderbilt Division of Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism, and director of the Vanderbilt Diabetes Research and Training Center. His primary research interests include pancreatic islet cell biology, development and function in type 1 and 2 diabetes.
