Surprisingly, running can improve your hearing.

running improves your hearing

Whether you’re taking a run on one of Percy Warner Park’s trails or logging miles on a treadmill in your basement, you’re likely aware of the activity’s countless benefits. Running can help brighten your mood, decrease the chance of high blood pressure, control weight and relieve stress. But did you know running can improve your hearing?

Published in the American Journal of Audiology, one study showed that among 1,082 adult women, those with higher cardiorespiratory fitness had better ability to hear sounds at at high and low frequencies. According to Runner’s World, exercise improves circulation to the ear, which provides a greater supply of nutrients to help preserve hearing.
