This recipe will help you put a new twist on water to help stay cool and hydrated.

Hydration is essential to good health! The latest in our Cooking with Coach video series, a partnership between Vanderbilt Health and Vanderbilt University Athletics, serves up inspiration for livening up your water game.

In this sixth installment, you’ll get to know Coach Anders Nelson of VU Volleyball, who helps us stay hydrated with a different twist on water while talking about what it’s like for him and his staff to prepare for their inaugural season in 2025.

This easy, no-fail, citrus fruit water recipe will take the chore out of counting glasses for your daily hydration and tempt you to pour another glass of H2O goodness.

Citrus water


1 lemon, sliced

1 orange, sliced

1 lime, sliced

1 gallon water


Add sliced fruit to a pitcher.

Fill with water and refrigerate for 2-4 hours.

A couple of runners stretching to avoid running injuries.
